In an effort to raise community awareness, Jefferson Elementary School ran a food drive in October to collect non-perishable items for Roxbury Social Services.
“During this drive, the school emphasized the importance of respect, both in school and in our township as a whole,” said Stefanie DelRusso, school guidance counselor.
Jefferson School held a contest between the grade levels to help add an extra incentive. The winning grade level received a pizza party.
The school collected nearly 700 items at the end of the drive. Fourth graders led the pack doing an excellent job of collecting 264 items.
