Florham Park’s Jerry Gibson Memorial Youth Summer Theater opens its doors at the Ridgedale Middle School Theatre to the wonderful city of OZ this July 25-July 29 with evening performances at 7:30 p.m. and a very special matinee on Sat., July 29 at 2 p.m.
This is the groups 37th summer and it promises to all lovers of the “Wizard of Oz” a memorable experience. Executive Producer Mary Hupcey says it will be a highlight in the group’s staging with a large energetic talented cast, delightful scenes and a very talented band of technicians, who enhance the experience with lighting techniques and colorful costumes.
William Brockman, a graduate of the Jerry Gibson program, is the shows director. A scholarship student at NYU’s Tisch School for the Arts, he plans to receive his BFA next spring. Stage Manager Malissa Kelly and Assistant Stage Manager Alessandra Le Pera round out the Production Team. Joseph Hupcey, the technical director, mentors students from Morris County Vo-Tech in the intern program that has been a part of Gibson Theater for the last decade.
Starring as Dorothy is Aileen Bergin of Madison High School. The Cowardly Lion and the Wicked Witch of the West, Gabriel Ferriero and Emmy Henning have attended Ridgedale Middle School. Chatham students Marry Kate Bolster and Emma Hartnett play the parts of The Wizard, and Uncle Henry. Brenna Thornton and Emma Price of the Morristown area have the parts of the Scarecrow, and the Tin Man. The good witch Glinda/Auntie Em is played by Alessandra Le Pera, a student at Drew University.
Other cast members include Erin Peters, Ava DiGiovanni, Chloe Dunne, Christian Rosowicz, Mia Cicarelli, Rachel Henning, Katherine Shallis, Alexandra McLean, Francesca Renzi, Kylie Bill, Kelly Cincotta, Caroline Anderson, Kaitlyn Gerdau, Jaeger Lajewski and the Reichard Family, Caroline, Brendan, Thomas and Fintan. Featured dancer is Kamryn Spagnuola.
