Eric Guo, a freshman from Millburn High School, recently won the Crescent Concerts Series’ 2017 Annual Showcase for Exceptional Young Artists. In its eighteenth season, the audition is held annually for classical instrumentalists and vocalists age sixteen and under. Each year the contestants compete in a DVD round and then play a live audition to be chosen to perform as one of the five winners to perform a program in the prestigious concert series.
Fourteen-year-old Guo had been chosen to play at the concert on Feb. 26 at the Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church Sanctuary in Plainfield. He has been playing piano at age of five, and is currently studying piano with concert pianist Beatrice Long of Short Hills. His musicality has earned him top prizes from 2016 Federation of Music Clubs Competition, Music Educators Association, Music Fest’s Rising Talent Competition, among others. He enjoys sharing music of piano solo and duet, as well as his own compositions.
