A unique music program entitled “Recaptured Moment: The Music of Maria Linnemann” is set to be featured on Sun., Nov. 6, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Morris County Library in the Whippany section of Hanover Township.
The program is free and open to the public, with general admission seating.
Classical guitar duo, Darren O’Neill and Cheryl Terhune Cronk, will bring together Linnemann’s exquisite musical portraits of people and places; evocatively etched for four hands, twelve strings.
For O’Neill, it is a venue close to home: In addition to being a talented musician, he is the Chief Librarian and Head of Reference Services at the County Library.
Linnemann was born in Amsterdam in 1947 and grew up in England. She attended the Royal Academy of Music in London from 1966 to 1970, studying piano, violin, and conducting. Since 1971 she has been living in Germany, where she works in music pedagogy. She has written musicals, guitar pieces, and more than 100 songs of all kinds.
The Nov. 6 music program is part of an effort by new County Library Director, Susan Calantone, to draw more people into the library; not just for books, DVD’s and other materials but for group programming and to have county residents view the library as a vibrant focal point for the entire county community.
