Roxbury warmed up with a strong finish in the first weekend of back to back regional U.S. Band Competitions.
The Roxbury Marching Gaels took on three fellow bands from New Jersey and one from Pennsylvania in the U.S. Bands Yamaha Cup marching band competition held at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, where more than 60 high school marching bands from the northeast competed.
Roxbury’s Marching Gaels took the field on a beautiful Sat. afternoon, Oct. 15, to perform its 2016 production of “Slide” in front of hundreds of spectators for the Group IV open competition, including many who made the trip from Roxbury.
The Gaels competed against marching bands from Old Bridge, Shawnee, Piscataway, and Nazareth, Pa.
Roxbury took home second place and best music awards. The Nazareth Blue Eagles took home first place with best performance honors.
