String Dept. Hosts Frist Symposium

The Randolph School District String Department hosted its first annual String Orchestra Conducting Symposium at Randolph High School on Nov. 5.
Teachers from New Jersey and Pennsylvania took turns conducting an orchestra comprised of Randolph Middle and High School students while guest conductor and clinician Peter Brye provided feedback for the teachers to try with the student orchestra on the spot.  Brye was enthusiastic and brought energy to all of the teachers and students.
“You must know that you have a highly talented and motivated group of string educators in your part of New Jersey,” Brye said.
Participating Randolph orchestra students had a memorable experience playing for several different teachers and reacting to Brye’s feedback.

“This is really fun! Teacher workshops must be way more fun than children workshops,” said RMS student Daniela Santoyo-Alanis. Due to the success of the event, the Randolph String Department plans to make the Conducting Symposium an annual event.
