Student Recognized For Volunteer Work

Matthew Leeds of North Caldwell, a senior at Golda Och Academy in West Orange, received the Outstanding Achievement as Online Editor Award from Golda Och Academy for putting the school’s newspaper online. Leeds built the website from the ground up and launched “The Flame” online. The site even includes Shabbat times, candle lighting times, and a link to the week’s Torah portion. It has been his honor to make the picture montage for Golda Och’s Sports Award Dinner for the last two years.

For the past two summers, Leeds has worked as a technology analyst at The Craig School, Mountain Lakes. In addition to his work, he has volunteered in the classroom teaching computer skills to both elementary and middle school students. He has also been involved in the ongoing management of the school’s online vocabulary tool.
