Sponsored by the Verona Environmental Commission (VEC), on Wed., Oct. 5, the district celebrated Bike/Walk to School Day.

Students and faculty from the Forest Avenue Elementary School in Verona were encouraged to come dressed in our school color, ‘forest’ green, and meet at 8 a.m. at one of two locations: Forest/Gerdes and Forest/Pease. Walk to School Committee Members Amanda Weil and Andrea Santamaria spoke about pedestrian and bicycle safety and walked to school together.

The VEC held its annual “Walk/Bike to School” poster contest which was open to all Verona public school students. Students choosing to participate brought their posters as they walked to school. All posters will be exhibited at the school and entered into the contest. Winners will receive $50 dollars.
