With the world upside down and backwards, it’s no wonder that businesses have had to get creative to meet the demands of their customer base. OMG Burger and Brew in Long Valley is no exception. Steve and Andrea Bussel, owners of OMG Burger and Brew has brought back a fun dining adventure that can be seen in movies like Grease. Head over to OMG Burger and Brew for some car hop style dining.

The idea came to the Bussel’s after the coronavirus pandemic closed the doors to their restaurant and outdoor dining patio. Wanting to keep their customers happy, they took the initiative to create a car hop dining atmosphere. The restrictions are still being followed however. The parking lot has available spots that are appropriately social distanced from the next spot, masks are being worn, but the car hop style lets families get out and enjoy a meal in a new, fun way.

“Due to COVID-19, we are not allowed to serve indoors or even on our patio. We came up with the idea that we are allowed to serve in the parking lot. We created the parking lot to meet all the requirements of social distancing. We put cones in every other spot, so people can only park in every other spot. We are serving people as they did in the 1950s. We even went out and bought trays that are designed to go on the windows,” Bussel said.

You’ll even see an antique car sitting in front of the restaurant if you drive by. Having opened up on May 18, Bussel noted the popularity of the car hop idea.

“People love it. We opened up and we were slammed, every spot was taken,” Andrea exclaimed.

The parking lot has been very busy almost every night, burgers and milkshakes streaming out of the kitchen. Appetizers include candied bacon, beer battered pickles, the king ring onion rings, and Bavarian giant pretzels. Burgers on the menu are the classic 6oz., classic impossible burger, OMG burger, chipotle bison, buffalo chicken, Jersey burger, and local piedmontese hot dogs. Salads and kids menus are also available.
