West Orange Library Has Summer Fun Scheduled

Fun, games and stories are on tap for children of all ages at the West Orange Library this summer. To register for events, go to the library website at www.wopl.org. The following events are planned for June and July.
Chess Club
On June 22, children in all grades are invited to Chess Club from 4 p.m.to 5 p.m.
Dance Party
The library’s Family Summer Reading Program will kick off June 26 with a DJ Dance Party from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the library’s meeting room.
The event will feature a Lego Challenge.
Summer is full of storytimes to help build children’s curiosity and begin a lifelong love of reading. Summer storytimes run from July 10 to Aug. 20.
Teen volunteers work with children learning how to read during Reading Buddies on Mondays at 3 p.m. Toddler Storytime, for children aged 2 to 3 ½, is held on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Preschool Storytime, for children aged 3 1/2 to 5, takes place on Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. Baby Storytime, for infants and children up to age 2, is held on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Bilingual Storytime, for children of all ages, takes place on Fridays at 11 a.m.
Also, volunteers read stories to kids in the Children’s Room on Saturdays at 11 a.m. And storytimes also takes place at the Ginny Duenkel Pool on Thursdays at 2:30 p.m. A pool membership is required to attend this off-site storytime.
Build a Robot
On Mon., July 10, at 4:30 p.m. Wondergy presents an interactive journey from simple funny robots to complex and super cute humanoid robots for grades K through 5.  Explore the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) concepts that bring robotics to life.
Building The Ground Work
See backhoes, a bucket loader and trucks – up close and personal- when township trucks park in the library lot on Wed., July 12 at 2 p.m.  Children of all ages get their own hardhats and can climb on board.
Build a Better World Artfully
The Montclair Art Museum Truck visits the library to inspire the imaginations of young artists of all ages and develop their creative talents on Mon., July 17, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Build a Better House
The three little pigs need new homes and are not sure if they can trust their architect, B.B.Wolfe. The award-winning Crabgrass Puppet Theatre will deliver a delightful and hilarious new take on an old tale on Wed., July 26 at 4:30 p.m. to children of all ages.
Harry Potter World
Children of any age can help build a better world Potter-style on Wed., July 26, at 7 p.m. Kids should bring a pair of socks or other article of clothing to enter the Harry Potter World. Clothing will be donated to a local charity. They are encouraged to dress in theme for the costume contest.
Stuffed Animal Workshop
A Noah’s Ark Forest Friends workshop will take place on Mon., July 31, at 4:30 p.m. Children aged pre-K through grade three will select and hand stuff a plush pal, then wish on a star and name their new friend.
