WOHS Cheerleaders Place Nationally In Recent Competition

The West Orange High School Varsity Cheerleaders returned from Orlando after competing in the National High School Cheerleading Championship (NHSCC) as Third Place Bronze medalists in the Large Varsity Non-Tumble Game Day and Seventh Place in the Medium Varsity Non-Tumble Division.

“The team outscored 23 other teams to place seventh nationally,” reported Head Coach Olivia Del Spina.

The event is hosted by the Universal Cheerleaders Association. Like other sports played at the national level, cheerleading teams are required to qualify at regional events to attend the national event.

“The coaches are unbelievably proud of the girl,” Del Spina said.

The team’s next challenge was to compete at the NJCDCA State Championship set for March 5.
