Woodland Park residents have all recently been sent a donation letter from the West Paterson Volunteer Fire Department.
COVID-19 has had a huge impact on the operations of the WPFD. Ongoing fundraising efforts, which support the operation of the three firehouses in town, has essentially been eliminated.
Typically members would be out collecting door to door but due to COVID, that will not happen this year. Rather, the WPFD is conducting a mail-in drive.
This fund drive will essentially be its only source of revenue this year. If you are able, donate generously – our bravest need your help.
The WPPD has been in existence since the birth of the community in 1914. It is a 100% volunteer organization with approximately 75 dedicated men and women serving 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year. It consists of three fire companies: Company #1 (on West 35th Street), Company #2 (on McBride Avenue across from BG School) and Company #3 (located on Rifle Camp Road). Each is responsible for maintaining their own building; including, but not limited to paying utility bills, roof repairs, maintaining the heating and air conditioning systems, and training.
